PRACTICE

We believe a year at Bergen Bibleschool will equip you to follow Jesus, and practical application is an important part of this. A combination of well-grounded teaching and of practice during the course provides important experience to learn and grow by.

Your weekly practical training happens mainly through involvement in your local church, and our school has a major focus on church life and fellowship. Should you choose, you will be given opportunity to invest in various aspects of church life in Christian Fellowship Bergen, among other things in:

  • Velvet, the congregation's youth and student work
  • Sync: pre-teen ministry
  • Sunday School
  • Worship Team
  • Technician’s team: (light / sound / projector / podcast / filming
  • Fellowship bible-groups
  • Weekly evangelism through Bergen Street Mission
  • Food-aid distribution

DOMESTIC PRACTICE

Autumn & Spring

Through two practice periods of approximately one week each, we travel to several of the more than 20 congregations cooperating with Christian Network:

(you may find more out about this at https://www.en.kristentnettverk.no)

After a period where we focus at school on preparation and team-building, we send our students to: Stavanger, Sunnhordland, Oslo, Trondheim, Vesterålen, Tromsø or Kirkenes (Murmansk).

We divide into smaller teams and travel to local communities and get to know them and their leaders. We serve them through whatever gift or opportunity God has given us, and focus on equipping the local congregations we are visiting. This may be by, for example, helping at children's or youth camps, at worship services, in Bible groups, in homes, through food distribution, school visits, street evangelism, mountain hikes and experiences. In short: we meet people who, through their everyday lives, live "To know Him and make Him known" which is their vision and aim.

PRACTICE ABROAD

Spring

We get the opportunity to travel and participate in mission and aid work run by Ministry Without Borders Phillipines.

(you may find more out about this at https://www.ministrieswithoutbordersphil.com)

There is the choice of taking part in either a 3 week or in an 8 week programme, where you actively take part in the ministry among indigenous people in villages, among children, young people and adults in the slums, in maternity clinics, in orphanages, prison work and food distribution programs. This is a unique and vibrant encounter with people from a different culture, having a different way of life with completely different living conditions. We get to help in and arrange camps for children and young people with a focus on sharing the gospel, teaching, training and discipleship. However there also will be the time for exotic experiences with snorkelling, swimming and kayaking, while you can enjoy the sun, fellowship and beautiful surroundings. The school arranges a good programme of preparation, with follow-up from experienced Norwegian missionaries along the way and debriefing sessions and guidance afterwards. Through it all, you are left with encounters and experiences for life. The world will not be the same!
